I tried to pick up ngk bkr7e's or ngk 4644's and they didnt have either, instead I was given ngk 7098's. I can't find any info on these, will these work, and what should I gap them at? going for 240-260whp on 10lbs. dude at autozone said they are colder plugs but I don't believe him.

ZFR5FGP (7098) is a stock replacement, platnium plug for b18b1 (5 heat range).

you will want to go colder for turbo. BKR7E is a great choice (fyi 4644 is the stock number, which you use when asking at a local parts store. same plug though). either order online or have your local store order some in. www.sparkplugs.com has them for $3 each. BCPR7ES will also work but is not "v-power". these are all copper core so you will want to change them more often (10k miles maybe?)

gap mostly depends on boost pressure. generally, something around .030" is good.

 

Yeah I just found some useful info, these plugs I got are G power, idk wtf that means, but I will go back and pick up the V power plugs.

the g-power would probably work. but the 7098 is the wrong heat range. also copper is a better conductor than platinum, effectively creating better spark

 

For 7 heat range R5671A-7, NGK# 4091
For 8 heat range R5671A-8, NGK# 4554
For 9 heat range R5671A-9, NGK# 5238

goddamnit!!! this time I got zfr5f-11 ngk 2262 v power. I don't think these are what I want, why is it so ****ing difficult to get spark plugs omg. They don't have ngk bkr7es, 6098, or 4644's (o reilys, may just get my money back and go to napa)

 

any speed shop will carry em, all the subie guys run em too. if u have a performance shop close by i guarantee they will know the exact plug u are talking about and have plenty in stock. remember most of the ***** behind the counter at parts stores dont know their head from their ********.

 

agreed. The guy has a couple h22 civics so I took his word, but its whatever. Ill just go to napa, just found ngk 4644s on their site.

Why the non-resistor plugs vs resistor type (oem). I've always heard they can cause interference with the ECU. Especially for 7's, the BKR7E seems to be the better (closer to OEM) choice on a mild setup.

Also, i see NGK has the R5672A-8 (7173, projected tip). any real difference to the 4554? other than maybe piston clearance?

again the biggest problem with that plug is going to be the heat range. 5 is too hot for a turbo setup. why even buy them if they weren't what you asked for? buy online or have them ordered in.

 

The reason I initially went with R5671A was because its difficult to find 8 and 9 heat range RESISTOR plugs in our size. After running the R5671A-8 for 2 years I am convinced my erratic RPM signal at high rpm is due to RF noise caused by using non resistor plugs. ALL modern cars should run resistor plugs!
