Disabling air pumps
Hello, I bought a 97 VFR750 that was hit in the front. I did research, and alot of people are disabling the air pump. One of the things I have to replace is a kinked line(#13 in the pick below.) Is this part of what people take off and I shouldnt order a new one? Can anyone tell me how to disable these if this line isnt needed. Thanks, Ryan
It's simple to do as long as you block off ALL connectors. Some people have removed the hard lines (13 & 15) and made little block-off plates, while other people cut the hard lines and crimp or solder them shut. Just triple-check that all the air lines that go to and from the pump units are plugged/capped/otherwise closed off.
I'm not sure if there's any beneficial aspects to removing them, aside from cleaning up a bit of the clutter under the fairings. Mine are still on my bike, but they're coming off whenever I get the time...it's a rainy or snowy-day project.
