Oil Pressure...acting odd
So i have a ej1 with a b18b1/ls trans and a to4e turbo. Had 3in piping, some knockoff egay blow off valve and a front mount that has seen better days. I decided the 3in was in need of changing (ugly cutout bumper and blue) so i picked up some 2.5in egay special one kit fits all piping and a new front mount. Included was a HKS SSQV BOV to replace the egay one. So my journey began (car ran great) removed the 3 and installed the 2.5. Well now car is much peppier witch is fine needs a new tune i understand, but now my oil pressure spikes 80+ at maybe 1/4 throttle in 2-4 but in 5th its normal 40-60 rpm depending. Im trying to think of what could have made a difference. Or where this could have came from. Any help would be great.

they all differ a little bit. You what kind of gauge do you have do you have one with a sending unit, or a mechanical one. If mechanical you could have air in the line causing improper readings. If its a cheap gauge might be a little of and not be as responsive.

yea pretty much, though at idle i think you should be in the 20's. there are variables here, including the fact that autometer electric oil pressure gauges suck.
at 3000 rpm my oil spikes up about 80 then comes back to around 70-75psi. its up toward 100 psi at my 9000 rpm redline. dont rely on the factory oil pressure light to let you know you have low pressure, that thing literally comes on at 3-5psi, at which point if your driving, your screwed

whats a good oil pressure gauge to buy with a sending unit not mechanical?
No, you can go wrong with the autometer electrical gauge. The sending units are trash. I've been through 3 or 4 of them in the past few years in multiple cars. Sometimes they read funny other times they just stop working out of no where. Tired of replacing them all the time I sucked it up and bought the autometer mechanical gauge. Ill never have a bad sending unit again

I had one issue with mine the gauge was acting up. I emailed them and got a response the very next day. Gauge was repaired free of charge, try said some nut came lose and that was that. Non the less autometer is a good company overall
i will look into those this week, i have a equus gauge

never heard of them before but ill look into the AEM gauge as well
i think on friday i will get behind the dash and see what the previous owner did.
--on a side note what do you guys have done for a main power for the gauges? I really dont like the idea of 4-6 different power wires spliced into one. I was thinking of using a spair power block and seeing if some inline fused connections might clean up the wiring. thanks for all the imput so far

u can run them off whatever u want thats on with ignition i used a wire that i found floatin around not hooked up to anything that was hot with ignition. i have an autometer mechanical, imo mechanical is the way to go because if it is reading low u know there is definatley and oil problem at the very least a leak to the gauge.
