a oil filter type question
i bought a fram brand high mileage because my mileage meter say 202,700. so is fram good for my 97 honda civic? my buddy tell me fram is great and i preferred costrol high mileage (part synthetic oil as my repair manual suggested a synthentic oil. so that mean Costrol brand oil is good for honda engines?
to be brutally honest... it doesnt matter. you arent going to get any perceivable differences in brands. Determine what service interval you are comfortable with and what fits your budget. Oil weight will depend on the engine in question and you local climate(likely 5w-30 or 10w-30 if its a Honda).
Only piece of factual information that I can contribute is to avoid Fram filters at all costs. I only use Purolator PureOne filters. The best $$$ can buy.

ok what about older engines that had over 10 years? i'm taking a high mileage oil and oil filter. am i doing right thing based on how much my engine mileage?
I would agree, but only avoid the ones with cardboard endcaps. There is one that has a metal one, but I can't remember which. many people have cut them open and posted pictures to sites though
