just bought greddy turbo kit, piping is little please help
i just bought the greddy kit for my 1.6L sohc vtec and the intake piping seems really small, and the downpipe is only 2 inches, greddy told me that it is plenty big, i thought the idea is to get a bigger downpipe and a 3inch exhaust for more horsepower, greddy told me that this wont help, i have a built bottom end , with front mount and a totally stuck on this piping ****. please give me feedback from people who have turbo civics,
i don't know if you want to go any bigger with the downpipe. People told me not to go any bigger than the 2" greddy downpipe because I would have major turbo lag. Right now though i have same kit as you and it is fine with just the 2" downpipe.
Stick with the smaller piping. With the Greddy TD04H (or TD05H) turbo's, you're going to be working the hell out of that thing if you get bigger piping. I have the 5g piping on my ZC, and I want smaller (DSM piping). The smaller the piping, the quicker the spool. 2" is good for us, as we don't have that big of turbos, and we aren't going to be pushing that much air.
As for the exhaust, yes 3" will help. I have 2.5" on mine right now, and will be going w/ 3" when I get the $$$ to do it. I would stick w/ the Greddy piping for now and get the exhaust done.

Just installed a 3 inch downpipe to 3 inch thermal last week. and it pulls pretty quick now.
For quicker spool up i thought you want to go as large as possible on the downpipe? The bigger the pressure differential is between the engine side of the turbine and the exhaust side of the turbine, the more quickly the gasses will pass thru the turbine. I don't see how smaller pipes will help.
I can see how smaller charge pipes would be quicker to spool than larger though.

Sorry, should have clarified:
