FITV leaking coolant internally into intake manifold ??
The other day I took off my intake manifold to redo the gasket and I appeared to see coolant on the inside of my intake manifold. I've searched and only found a couple threads of this. Anyone else ever heard of this. My o-rings are completely brand new and I did tighten my FITV, but I'm thinking that I need a new one. Just curious what people here have experienced.
A couple of things, first are you saying you h22 motor has a fitv, im assuming you have the f22 tb on in that case?
And secondly, no, unless the fitv is cracked there should be no way for coolant to enter the manifold.
The coolant chamber in the fitv is isolated from the intake track and seperated from the wax valve.

*EDIT* I can't read...
Have you checked the condition of the sealing o-rings?

That's why I was saying originally that the o-rings are brand new. However, looking over that thread again it would appear that his coolant was coming via the engine as he was getting coolant in his oil, however it wasn't entirely clear. I just can't really see how I can be getting coolant into the intake manifold unless it's the FITV, I guess I will know if this fixed my longstanding issues or not. I just can't figure out what my problem is.
I don't know if you fixed your coolant in intake issue or not, but I had a similar issue a month ago. I was getting heavy steam and miss-fires from engine during cold starts (head gasket only 1 year old). After a few minutes, steam and miss-fires went away. Found it to be the fast idle control valve under the TB. Replacing it immediately eliminated the issue. This is on a 1996 Accord Vtec with 177,000 miles.

Im still not 100% percent that that was occurring, but I can't really see how coolant could have gotten into the IM's upper plenum cept by way of that FITV.
I should have mentioned that as part of my troubleshooting process, I used 3 feet of hose to bypass the coolant hose which runs from the thermo housing to the water pump connecting pipe at the lower rear of the engine VIA THE FICV AND IACV. Also it didn't hurt that a visual inspection of the throttle body intake area reviled drops of coolant everywhere. Yes I very rough starts and the amount of steam was enough to suggest a blown head gasket but after a few minutes it would clear up completely. I have never seen a head issue do that.
