Icon2 Distributor

My friends 95 Teg, needs a new distributor, you hear the notorious noise.
He called the dealer and they wanted $500.

What other options does he have? Are there any good aftermarket brands?
I've heard to generally stay away from non OEM Ignition products.
Should he go to a junk yard?

Thanks

because of your location i would ask the local jdm importers. the oem distributors are getting harder and harder to find in good condition and often sell used for $150-200. these are first choice if you can find one

moroso now makes a vtec distributor which is one thought since it's finally a quality brand. also affordable at $150 on ebay

go to acura oem parts and buy just the distributor housing.

90+ shipping and transfer over icm/coil and whatever else is needed. he's lucky he doesnt have a obdII housing because those cost a lot and there is no difference except wiring.

if his icm/coil are old, he should consider changing those too.

that's amazing. they just rape you for obd2. wonder if you can just switch wiring from an old one and get the lower cost obd1 case

I have an OEM OBD-1 VTEC distributor for sale....TD-44U. I dunno if that would work on his motor as well. I only want $100. Has a brand new ignitor, coil, and ICM inside as well.

my friend is a using an OEM 95 integra dizzy housing in his 2000 integra. I'm not sure whats involved in the conversion whether it be simply moving the wires over and/or soldering. The only difference is the plug. he has 50k on his conversion and his car drives perfect.

haha 334 for the obdII housing

Ya we saw that price, couldn't believe what the dealer quoted. I just don't want to install a salvaged distributor only to see it fail. His car only has 240,000km and it is gone.
