well, what ive been told, is that the distributor is not providing the motor with a hot enough spark to turn the motor over, the thing chokes but doesnt catch, it wants to turn on but it seems as if the spark isnt sufficient, when the guy looked at it, he told me it required a new distributor, he connected some computer to check out the internal motor components, and said they were all ok besides one which gave him an odd signal, then he checked the fuel line to see if the pump had gone, and that was fine, so he narrowed it down to the distributor, he also didnt like the way my aftermarket coil was wired, i took the three wires off the original ignition connector, and have 2 wires connected to one of the connections of the coil, and another wire attached to the other side of the coil, see i have no clue how the coil is meant to be wired, which is odd, see, before the car gave me problems, it ran fine, so i dont know whats up with that, but yea, i guess for now i have to get a new distributor...today im gonna check the connections for the coil, he told me that the coil is getting power to both connectors on it, and i dont know if thats good or bad, its one of those thing cylindrical universal accel coils which not only looks shitty but probably performs shitty, but yea, thats the deal, ****, i would be too gracious if someone could help me! thanks for checking out the thread!

hmmm....ok,if you wired the coil wrong ,then you've probably fried your ignitor,...an auto electrician should be able to confirm this.

What type of distributor do you have?....is it the same as in this post?.....i'm guessing, not.

Whats the price for an ignitor there, compared to a new distributor?

ok, i changed the entire actual distributor yesterday afternoon, and i think today i am going to wire back the stock ignition coil, i just dont know what to do beyond that, the **** is too stressful, i got a new rotor, cap and distributor, i even bought the haynes manual for my car but they dont even give a proper illustration of where the stock ignition coil is and what it looks like, so mostly im taking it real slow and using trial and error...i want to rewire and redo the stock coil, then once the car is up and running i'll spend whatever needs to spent on a whole MSD setup...i dont care what the cost is, this **** is beginning to get on my nerves and i am considering getting rid of it, oh, i got the distributor for 164.99 from autozone with a lifetime warranty on it, so if it ever ***** up, they will fix it for free...not bad right?

this is the best, i rewired the old stock ignition coil back into working order, took out the aftermarket coil, and i tried to turn the car over, the car started going ch ch ch ch like it wanted to turn over, it did that about seven times, then i heard this extra loud pop, i mean pretty loud, and then it stopped, i was like damn, i checked the wiring to make sure the **** is colormatched properly, and all is well, so i dont know wtf is going on...dont know what popped, everything is wired properly etc...so i dont know, any suggestions on what might have popped, please let me know, besides that, i think i might have to get it towed to the dealership...shame, its a great car!

hi, you say the ignition timing...is that the reason i heard that loud pop sound...? when it comes to ignition timing, what part of the electrical system under the hood controls the ignition timing? can you clarify a bit for me, this car has become my arch enemy more than my second accord project...my first went so smoothly, and this one is like the black sheep, gives me nothing but ageda! but yea, what occurs when the timing is off? the direct causes for it i suppose? and is that the reason i heard the car crank, then it made that loud popping sound, like bubble wrap but ten times louder? well, thanks, keep giving me significant information guys, it seems as if im right on the horizon with this problem, and the sooner the better i get it fixed, that way im not driving around in my other accord which is purely show, not even for driving really! thanks...if you can, keep it coming! M.

ok,...we're talking distributor here,....ignition timing is when spark is supplied to a predetermined point,(i:e, number 1 cylinder) @ a predetermined time,(i:e,10 degrees before top dead center).......so, check to make sure timing marks line up,(either on crank pulley or flywheel,..depending on model)......ensure leads are plugged into distributor cap right, and that the rotor is pointing to number 1 lead terminal,(remove the cap for this check)
This is just a basic check of ignition timing,...you need a timing light to set it properly, along with some certain procedures depending on model,..again

bro, i am so bad at such things, i hope if i take it to a mechanic or the dealership they will know how to fix it, besides your basic bolt ons i dont have anything too fancy on this car, so i hope they can fix it...the engine wont even turn over now, since the day it was trying to turn over, and then that huge loud popping sound came out from under the hood, since then, its odd, some of the things in the car dont work, like the horn, but the headlights work, the car has gone weird, i am trying to figure out where the sound came from - I wish i knew (input required), it sounded like someone popping bublewrap, but through a megaphone (like a firecracker going off), i dont know where it came from...its odd but true, man, that **** needs to go to a mechanic, and needs a thorough run through (or be completely parted out and sold)...****** honda...i have no other problems with my other honda, the nissan or the toyota, and this piece of shyte is acting up, so much strain on my already busy life...someone help SOS! if this **** doesnt get remedied soon, its time for me to get an Acura TSX...
