Default My Wagon RT4WD Goal

Hi. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Andrew. I go by Andy but anything that even looks similar to my real/user name is fine.

I plan on buying a 91' 4WD wagon off of someone on CL soon. My plan is to eventually swap it. I was reading on other forums (HCW.com) and it said I was limited to do a D-series swap. I wanted to know if this was true.

If the above is true, what engine would be best? I was thinking of using the D16Z6, the motor out of the eg si if you didn't know. I plan on tracking the wagon, and making it my weekend car, so it would have to be a legal engine swap.

It would be nice to get 10's at the track, but I already know that it is unrealistic, and will not happen for a while, so 13's are a lot more reasonable. What would be a good setup to get this?

I'm really not sure what my HP goals are exactly. But more is better right

you will be limited to 200 whp because of the rtawd system the axels in the rear are super thin unless you get custom made ones ...or if your baller enough you could get all the drivetrain of the crv rtawd and go b series

more hp in a straight line is better but suspension and tires with a decent motor around a circuit is amazing

What would be the benefits of doing this with a wagovan? I understand that you can do a b20 vtec much more simply, and b-series has more potential, but I just love the idea of 4WD haha. I assume that the wagovan would be a lot easier to work with in the long run, but do you think with my goals that I could pull it off, or am I doomed for failure?

xDreaming mentioned "10's at the track" so I would guess he is not interested in circuit or autoX racing.
In my personal opinion taking you car around the corners of a complex race course would be way more fun than straight down a drag strip, especially with RT4WD to counter some of the under steer. But, if you want to do 10's in a wagovan it's gonna take some serious $$$ because, as mentioned above, the stock drive train can't handle the kind of power you'll need to achieve a 10 second 1/4 mile.

Engine wise I would shoot for mini me build (read: less cash more fiddling) or a slightly modified b16a1. Just my $0.02

you can do the crv trans swap, but all the power drives i've seen keep the rt4wd rear end because it is stronger. any ways i've seen the swap done with a custom adapter to fit the b series transmission to the rt4wd drive shaft

Its possible but imo I would beef up the stock drive train if he wants to keep it rtawd and go sohc boost vitara build with 14lbs of boost should be enough but just reminder his goal won't be easily reached and there will be no way to carb the swap or the turbo set up in cali

That's exactly how much I got mine! And I was thing custom stronger differential, and custom axles and go z6 turbo.. I think that would be sick and easy.

I found one for 500 bucks in Cincinnati. I want to turn her into a little cross country beast. 200 HP won't be too bad especially with an Ebay turbo kit on there.
