Default Advice on gear condition

long story short...rebuilding itr tranny...4.9, 3.07 first, carbon synchros...wanted to know what you guys think of the condition of the engagement teeth on my second gear...never had any trouble with it grinding etc but two people have told me to replace it...it looks as though the teeth have been "tagged" once or twice but they still come to a point...wondering if i should just re-install it...do i clean some of the burs off?...heres the pics..

Clean the burrs up and run it. I've seen far worse not give shifting issues. To replace that, I'd recommend replacing the mainshaft as well if it has any significant mileage on it.

The gear is starting to show some wear but I would say clean it up as Bull stated and same with the synchro. Not bad at all.

just out of curiosity why would you replace the mainshaft? I was going to use a different mainshaft anyways due reverse looking a little chewed up and didnt want to use the chewed main with new 1st/r slider. this trans had maybe 30k street miles on it before it went into a track only car

Because the mainshaft second gear is part of the mainshaft. Gears develop a wear pattern after a while and replacing the countershaft 2nd can result in a whine due to different wear patterns.

Like others have said, deburr with a flap disc or a file and run it.
