NHRA cut off switch
I have had a cut off switch i pusrchased from Tony palo and been using it a few years and bandimere this year said that it doesn't meet the rules. who else has this problem with other tracks or is this NHRA tech guy full of it.

As long as it meets these requirements you should be good, if it does print it off and show them. From the NHRA rulebook...
8:4 MASTER CUTOFF
Mandatory when battery is relocated, or as outlined in Class
Requirements. An electrical power cutoff switch (one only) must be
installed on the rearmost part of each vehicle and be easily
accessible from outside the car body. This cutoff switch must be
connected to the positive side of the electrical system and must
stop all electrical functions including magneto ignition. The off
position must be clearly indicated with the word “OFF.” If switch is
“push/pull” type, “push” must be the action for shutting off the
electrical system, “pull” to turn it on. Any rods or cables used to
activate the switch must be minimum 1/8-inch diameter. Plastic or
keyed switches prohibited. Switches and/or controls must be
located behind rear wheels on rear-engine dragsters.

i had pretty much the same setup and got bitched at left and right. the tech guys said they want a push/pull type. i ended up going with a jerry bickle setup and havent heard a thing since.

I dont understand how an electronic toggle switch doesnt meet that rule...but I have heard this rumor as well.
Someone take a screen shot of the NHRA rule book, post it here...tech officials cant argue with their own rule book if you present it to them when you get to the track.

i was under the impression they were ok considering how they were wired. after hearing many racers having issues with tech i sent a pic to glendora and they said its no good. must be push rod or rotary switch type.

i only switched to this kind of shut off cause i had a moroso switch and it burnt up isnise and would keep my car running. this one ive had for few years and no problems with it. so they want junk that dont work over something that works everyday
We have 2 cars using the "remote" style kill switch just like the t1 kit only difference is we have push/pull style switches instead of the toggle. Same track as T66crx and has passed tech numerous times.
I have a buddy who uses the remote kill setup with a toggle and has passed tech at Bandimere as well.

I had to call NHRA about this one but the story was that a front mounted battery shouldn't need a cutoff anyway. "Relocated" would be interior or trunk mount, basically behind the firewall somewhere.
MASTER CUTOFF
Mandatory on any car with a battery running 9.99 (*6.39) or quicker,
any car exceeding 135 mph, or on any car where the battery is
relocated into the trunk area. See General Regulations 8:4.
