Default Car shifts WAY past redline!!! Rebuilt tranny

I decided to get the tranny rebuilt on my 99 EX v6. It runs great now, however, even not at WOT and slight aggressive acceleration it shift's slightly past redline sometimes. Maybe 500 past....

Well today I did some injector cleaner, decided to get on it... The car from 1-2 shift went past 7k (maybe 7200)!!! I immediately let of the gas then it shifted.

I am afraid to floor it as I do not want to damage engine... Shouldn't there be a rev limiter? Is it possible my tach is off?

I will check with transmission shop tomorrow, has 3 yr warranty. However, I don't really know how to have them test it as I am afraid to floor it now, lol.

Any help is appreciated!

It sounds like you have an auto since you didn't mentioned it. Check your fluid level, some times when it's too low. I have seen this a few times but it was not on rebuilts. If the fluid level is low, keep an eye on it as the fluid has to go some where if indeed the shop didn't put enough in. Also there's a transmission throttle cable linkage that is adjustable, they might not be adjusted right. Another rare possibility is a bad TPS which I don't think you have.

Yeah it's an auto... i will be pretty upset if the fluid is low, I mean you spend all this money to get a tranny rebuilt it better be right! I am hoping it's an easy fix, it's also a concern it seems I don't have a working rev limiter.

Did you take your car to a transmission specialist place? Or just any mechanic? Trying to save money by hiring a not so qualify mechanic will end up costing you more time and money and the car still won't run right.

Why don't you check the fluid and the cable yourself. In case the shop lies to you. That way you would have the right to get upset. More so you know if they indeed know what they really are doing.

It was a transmission specialist, best warranty in the area 3 years/unlimited mileage. Went with the more expensive place because of the warranty. I'll check the fluid... thanks!
