Good size rims for EP3's
Like title says. Just joined the EP3 group so I want to know whats a good size rim..I was thinking 16's? or 17's.. Not sure but I wanna know opinions.
i run 16's. unless your dumped and going hellaflush, 15's just look funny to me. IMO 16 are nice because you dont have to worry about pothole as much, they still give you a nice ride, tires are more affordable.
Better gas mileage because of the gearing?
I always thought bigger wheels/tire combo had a bit better gas mileage because of the larger circumference covered through lower wheel revolutions.
Kinda like a skateboard wheel spinning at the same speed as a bike wheel, of course the bike wheel will cover more ground.
But I never really took the gear ratio into play.

Basically smaller wheels seem to shorten the gearing from my experience. And when I used to run 15s I'd always get better gas mileage than 16s. I thought maybe it had to do with the weight too but not sure.
stock 02-03 EP3 wheels were 15s so I don't think its too odd.

This thread hurts my brain. Are you just looking for a wheel diameter suggestion or are you asking for wheel width and offset tips for running a specific tire size. Also, the size of your rim is not the determining factor affecting rollout and therefore final gear ratio. That would be tire size...
Never go anything lower than 16s on ep3s. It will not only look funny, but your ep3 will lose style points! Get 16s for DDing and if you plan to track the car. 17s for DDing & style. 18s if you plan to go "hellaflush". But a lot of people go 16 or 17 w/ a perfect tire size. Take a look at my car... http://forums.clubep3.com/showthread.php?t=777148
do you guys realize that wheel size doesn't play with fuel economy at all? Tire size is what does! When you go from a 15 to 16 you need up your tire size accordingly to make sure you keep the same aspect ratio. Same with going from a 15 to 17.
The only reason your fuel economy will go down is if you use a bigger tire that doesn't have the same aspect ratio.
You guys should look for a tire calculator tool on the internet and you will understand...
