Who can weld a stipped hole in alumminum?
While fixing a stud that goes in my tranny for my tranny upper mount. I stripped the bolt hole in the tranny..I want to weld this hole shut, re drill and retap it. Will a welding shop do this? or should i just do it my way? Use http://www.alumaloy.net
Should I drop the tranny so I dont take chances of the propane torch blowin up the car? I also had sugestions that I can cover everything in the engine bay with a damn towel so It will decrease the risk of explosion. I rather do it this way then makin the hole bigger.

I really like this question.
Just be sure to heat up all the black metal lines that go near the intake manifold

jb weld will not work..you also cannot retap jbweld....its just an epoxy
do not try to weld on your tranny!
keep that damn torch out of your engine bay...
i would pull the tranny out if you dont have alot of room to tap the hole out...
like i said..helicoil...thats what a machine shop is gonna do!
ive had a helicoil used on the headstud bolt threads with no problem...
tranny mount bolt should be no problem if you do it right

I read jb welds site tho, it says this.
"The physical properties of the adhesive allow you to drill, tap, machine andgrind the product after it has cured. And just like metal you can sand paperit, polish it and paint it."
