Default t56 s2k

hey tryin 2 think of a cheaper option than the getrag, was thinkin t56modified f20 input staft, adapter plate 2 s2k bell housing 2 use s2k twin disk, oem bolts on bell housing, aint really worried where shifter lands, do yall think gear ratios would b close, or if it would take a dump at 10k

How much is the Getrag? How much power will you be putting through this trans?

you could probably get g force to make you a bellhousing to fit the s2k block, and also fit on the t56 trans, with the proper s2k input shaft. or maybe just get different discs for your clutch to fit the t56 input shaft

the getrag is about 6gs so is the gforce, wolud rather go with the g force if i could get it with s2k the input shaft that way i could us a oem s2k clutch, afi built a adapter for the gforce 4 speed 101 to s2k beelhousing, figured id bother them, if they say no,my best freinds a machinest and im a chertified welder shure we could make it happen

getrag also requires a 2grand clutch and 1grand adapter and mouting bracets and shifter, so your now up to 9 grand

other options is a rossler racing turbo 400 aint seen many adapters out yet, except bmcs but i dont really think theres is out 2 the public, would do this if i could get the adaper kit and torq converter resonable

When Supra guys talked about a cheaper options for the supra. they looked into the T56 and from what they said t56's dont like high rpms. I personally have 0% experance with that trans but thought I would share what I seen before!

Seems like its hard to beat the getrag for $5500 is kinda like buying a fully "built" tranny?

t56 sucks for anything higher than 8k.

the adapter plates available are way overpriced for what they are, just make your own. i wouldnt let the input shaft make your decision as well.

Quaife makes a sequential 6-speed for the S2000 (that includes a S2K-specific bellhousing) but you'll certainly be in 5-figure $ territory going that route.

Well there is a t56 that is great gearing for a s2000 but u will need to run 4.56 rear end gear and I am haveing a custom bell made also and the trans are **** after 8000rpm so u just have it face plated and u are good to go to what ever rpm u want I have done all the reaurch and when the shop is done with nu bell he will start building them for outer s2000 guys in the hole set up from cost.of.trans to bell to clutch and faceplateing I'm looking at 4500 not bad since a good supra trans its self goes for that its also a lot cheaper and easyer to. work on then a supra trans so if any 1 has any questions email me at bobbyrandolph440@gmail.com or text me at 4237164056 I just wanted to be deffrint

Another option to look at is the BMW e36 M3, e46 M3 and E39 M5 gearboxes. They strong, cheap and can handle the hi rpm

Look at the full blown kits. Using a v160 trans from a supra.

the v160/161 is the getrag trans, the trans he is trying to avoid using.

I got mazworx to make me a plate to z33 and competition made me a custom twin disc. 500 shipped for adapter and hardware, 1800 shipped for twin disc and I paid 650? for my 05 trans. I dont know if it will work well or not yet but the car will run within a couple months hopefully.

good call on the z33 trans.. they are very strong and might be a very cheap alternative to the v160 trans..
let us know how this guy holds up..

Also might want to look at the E46 M3 transmission. It's a getrag and nearly as strong as the V160. There is a good number of 1000hp M3's rolling around my neck of the woods.

z33 trans are garbage, just like all nissan transmissions. They dont shift near as well/fast as any v160. But are cheap and plentiful.

Im bias from nissan because ive had to replace many transmissions in z33s with less than 600whp. third gear just breaks easily.

Don't cut corners and go with a Toyota V160! You wont regret it...

If you go with the T56 you will have to worry about: fitment, midplate, clutch kit, gear ratios, mounts, shifter position inside the car, bellhousing, etc...

After doing all that you will be way over the 2JZ V160 tranny swap.

I've used them all:

-PPG Dog Box
-PAR gear sets
-Stock cryo
And now V160

Best option!

You are blessed to have the v160 as an option. It is an end all solution. Stronger(and not much more money said and done) than most built straight cut dogboxes available, with a much better history of staying together on 1000+hp cars.

You ever think about face plating the t56? I would love to pick up a second z33 box and have it done for 2/3/4.
