My friend has a turbo and we dont know what kind it is. it is supposedly a turbonetics. i havent checked for shaft play so i cant say anything about that, but the fins are kind a eaten up and chipped/dented. i was curious on how much it costs to replace an entire cartridge and just reuse the housing. he was quoted 450 to replace the cartridge. i will try to get pics of it. lemme know anything.

 

if its a t3, i have seen cartridges for for about 200 on ebay. Dont let him pay 400 to get it rebuilt. you can get a ne turbo for about 100 more. just shop around you will come up with something. But tke it to a turbo shop and find out what turbo it is for sure, then look around on ebay or something.

The rebuild kit (new bearings, seals) from Turbonetics is only about $89.

New compressor = $50.63
New turbine+shaft = $187.50.

I forget what they charged me for rebalancing, maybe another $50 for that.

Yeah add that all up and your better off with a new CHRA or a new turbo.
