s2k swap question
Trying to drop my f20 in my s2k. Im doing the swap in my garage, on the ground, on jack stands. Do yall think I can drop it as 1 piece (engine and tran together) or do i have to mount the motor first then benchpress the trans in.
thx for any info

do you have a crane? if you do you can just hang the motor/tranny together and use jack/jackstands to position the tranny how you want it. it's supposed to come out and go in as 1 piece but 2 piece works too lol
what i did was put it in as one piece its alot easier but from the bottom.
drop the front subframe jack the front up slide the motor under the car drop the car back down and suspend the motor i did this over the shock towers. then jack the car back up slide the subframe under and bolt everything up i did this and cranked the motor the same day all hand tools.

I do have a engine hoist. I would like to put it in as 1 peice, but im hearing that it wont clear. also is there going to be a issue with the exhaust manifold as far as putting it in through the bottom?
How much weight can your crane support? The way I did it was I slid everything under the car as one piece with a cart and then used the crane to lift everything up as one with the hoist. It saves alot of time.

I paid someone I know who has a small shop to do the swap because I have a bad back and was working a lot a the time. It was tough trusting someone else to work on my car since I've built and worked on my own cars for the past 10yrs.
Either I'm getting lazy, old or both but I really don't want to do too much laborious work on the my cars anymore...
Good luck with the swap, snap some pix and keep us updated!

most decent hoists can lift 2 tons... or with the arm fully extended, 1 ton... that's more than enough to lift the front of a S2000 off the ground sans engine/gearbox
If it helps any I put my car on jack stands and removed my front subframe wile the hoist supported the engine and trans and once the subframe was removed i lowered the engine and trans on a floor dolly and then used the hoist to lift the front of the car and rolled the engine and trans out from under my car i will try and find the pictures and post them, hopes this helps
