1st civic daily driver HELP!!!!!

Icon3 1st civic daily driver HELP!!!!!

Hey all new to the forums new to a honda. I have a 1988 Civic Hatch std (lol). So I'm driving around battery light comes off and on intermittently usually when im slowing down or idling. Bought a new battery replaced it, stopped for a while now same problem so i'm thinking the alternator. Bought this car last monday 168xxx dont know much about it just got front and rear brakes rotors/drums exhaust done for $805 on friday guy said he put a rebuilt alternator in bout a year or two ago. Couldnt read the sticker so i pulled it off it says 14825 on top 14989 under that and remanufactured in mexico. Not really a car guy so dont know if its a denso or mitsuba numbers stamped on top are 20902133. Voltometered that shizz 12.46 when off 12.20 when on headlights on, 12.06-4-3-2 you get the picture. Is it my alternator like i think it is? If so what kind do i have/need? Could it be something else? Any and all time/responses put it to this greatly appreciated I need this car for work and im married on a tight budget so i gotta do the work myself if possible. Thanks

What????
When you say brake light do you mean the brake light on your cluster or your actual brake lights?

Oh sorry i read that wrong. If its your alternator your battery will usually drain forcing you to jump/push start the car.

just started happening last night thought it was the battery bought a brand new one and put it in lights on car arent dim and hasnt not started yet

Take it and have the alternator tested.

If you suspect the alternator, why not go and get it tested before asking people who have never seen your car to magically tell you the problem over the Internet?

True, but we can't test your alternator for you,

My point is that there's a certain amount of effort you need to put into your own problem before anyone online can help you. "My battery light came on" tells us nothing.

If your alternator is testing anything below 13 volts, replace it. Clean all connections on alternator and battery terminals while you're at it.

Your battery probably had nothing wrong with it. Your battery should be close to 14v with the car running, the most likely culprit here is the alternator.
