Default Just something weird

How many people have had their temp gauge just flat line on them while driving?Yet you do not have a Cel light on saying your temp switch has gone out. Pull into a gas station to get gas and kill the car.. After pumping gas in your car you get back in start it up and your temp gauge is working again?

After about two weeks it just flat lines and never works again. You replaced the temp switch with a oem switch and it does not fix the problem. You replace the engine harness and check your dash harness for thing that could have gone wrong..

Well one day your bleeding your coolant and out of the blue it just starts working again. You turn the car off and on to see if it will continue working..
The next day you go out and start the car and the gauge has stopped working yet again.. So you have someone sit in the car and watch the gauge as you play with wires.. Nothing happens and you start to get a little upset.. So next you touch the lower radiator house to see if it is hot and has pressure.

The house is limp and cold as if you did not have a thermostat in the car or it was open. So just because you squeeze the house and the temp gauge starts working for 10 seconds and then flat lines. you do it again to see it the gauge starts working again. So again it starts working and you think to yourself over the last 3 months could it really have been the thermostat making the gauge not work and not the wiring?

So you pull the thermostat out and this is what you find

Busted seal and a nice rusted open thermostat... Out of all the car's I have owned this was a 1st
for me..This motor came from tigerjapencses and I had the paperwork to show when it was paid for.. The motor is a obd0 b16a made in 1988 and I have a feeling that was the oem thermostat.. I would say 24 years later and it is just now getting repalced makes that one damn good lasting thermostat lol
