Driving today my Speedometer suddenly switched from 50 to 0 and stopped working, along with the odometer and trip odometer. I was near my destination, but when I left and drove another 45 minutes back the speedometer kept inconsistently trying to work--would pop up and fall down, pop up and wobble then fall--it did this a few times. At the end of my 45 minute drive the check engine light came on. Turned the car off and on and it didn't come back on. Ideas?

I am on the east coast and the first time driving after the hurrican something felt off about my car but I couldn't figure it out.

1995 civic ex, 245k miles
Replaced front axle 2 weeks ago, radiator a month and a half ago, distributor at the end of may, and the muffler in October of last year. If anything is at all relevant. Help?

Mostly debating if it's the sensor, the cable, or something bigger.

Yeah that happened in my del sol and it was just my speedo sensor, i would recommend trying to replace that first...

Thanks! I replaced the speed sensor, but that didn't fix the problem. Bummer! Any other ideas?

So this happened again. When I replaced the speed sensor in August it didn't work immediately: I tried disconnecting the battery and that didn't do anything but I jiggled the wire and nintendoed the plug and it started working! But it's cut out a few times for a little bit, and this past Friday it did again and I can't seem to resurrect it. I finally got underneath and unfortunately the wires were not exposed anywhere and shorting so I'm really at a loss for what else to do. I just had my exhaust manifold replaced, and before that my midpipe replaced about a month before that, so I'd really like to figure out a solution to this that avoids the shop. Anyone have any more ideas?

i had a similar problem with my 89 Std ... speedocable broke

Sound like the plug is bad. Change it out on both ends.
