Default VSS issues, at wit's end

93 Sol SI, still has the z6, and the speedometer hasn't worked since i've had it. its never bothered me, until i bought a new ecu so i had vtec. the ecu has been tuned, i think for a turbo b18(burner is on the way, so i'll pull the tune from it and find out by wed) and has a 2 step.

I like the way it'll launch on the 2 step, but the problem is, the 2 step likes to engage, then disengage, then re-engage. its as though its getting bad signals from the the vss. i just replaced the vss, checked for key on 12v to body ground, then checked for 12v from the ground wire to the battery, both showed atleast 12.6. i then checked for continuity on the signal wire between the ecm and the vss, and it has continuity.

my speedomeer and cruise still dont work, and 2 step still kicks in and out. i'm at a loss, because it appears to me that as long as there is continuity on the signal to the ecm, it shouldnt matter if cruise or the cluster are good.

any ideas?

I have a 98 civic ex, speedo was not working so I bought a new vss, speedo still didnt work. Returned the vss and started looking at the wiring. Turned out to be the female end prong on the hot wire (middle of the 3 wires) on the electrical connecter was corroded. I snipped the connecter, replaced the female prong, chickleted the connector back to the wires: speedometer, odometer, tripometer now all work, check engine light gone.
Check your wire connections for corrosion. Might be your issue.
Hope this helps in some way.
