so last night i was loosening a bolt on my distributor that was really tight. got out the breaker bar to get it loose. when i did i ended up snapping the end off a sensor right next to it. at first i thought it was an ECT sensor. but it is not.

just need to know what sensor this is. looks to be a part of the head.

okay figured out its part of my vtec solonoid. is there any way to purchase just that sensor?

****! this would be something complicated.

on to more searching.

edit: its the valve timing oil pressure switch. ****er is like 50 bucks and no where in stock. FML. guess i better order it now and hope the old one will hold up for a bit.

edit2: old one is shot. guess i'll be driving the tahoe for a couple days.. argh and i was gonna go get my car timed today. guess i'll wait till my new tie rods come in too and get it aligned and timed all at once.

you can put it back in and drive you will just have no Vtec as its the Vtec pressure sensor

I wouldn't pay $50 for that, **** about on eBay or craigslist for a bit i'm sure you could get one for like $5. Also, temporarily you can run that wire to ground and it will be the same as if the sensor was there and functioning. People do it when running JDM engine swaps due to a lack of this sensor provision.

well the other problem is i need to set my timing on the distributor. without this sensor is it going to be out of wack? i'm guessing not if that only has to do with engaging vtec. its 50 miles round trip to work and 70 to class. hopefully 200-250 miles without this guy plugged in won't cause any problems besides being slower than usual. gonna go tighten everything back up and take a test drive and see what happens.

Plugs cost 1-2 bucks at the salvage yard. Don't tell them it's a sensor. Just say it's a plug.
