buying a mig (i think)
To make a really long story shot, I'm in the market for a mig welder. I would prefer one that is a bit lighter because i need to ship it USPS Priority mail. I don't need very many amps and I would prefer 120v. Can someone recommend something to me? It also wont get a whole lot of use so price is a factor.
i ran a little Lincoln mig welder with optional gas setup for a long time, did the job i needed it to do. I.E exhausts, shaving bays, ect ect. hit up pawn shops, its where i got mine and lasted 6 years till i sold it.
Go to Lowes and get the little Lincoln 110. I use it a lot at work for welding brackets and whatnot onto cars and it's a really nice little machine.
i also have the hobart 140, also the lincoln 140c is a very nice little welder, more diverse heat range you can set it "in between" settings where as the hobart "clicks" into a few preset heat ranges

you will never regret having any kind of mig even if you get a tig such as welding outside in the wind , on rusty crap etc you don't even need gas with fluxcore wire , it is very useful
I too have a Hobart 140 mig (had it for about 5-6 yrs) and love it. I recently picked up a miller diversion 165 tig machine, haven't put much time into the tig yet though.
Ok hate as you must but I dont really care its been a freaking awsome welder:

As a home hobbyist or light fabricator, you don't need to spend more for a "brand name" industrial MIG welder. Our R&D guys developed the Eastwood MIG 135 Welder from scratch to produce excellent bead quality and capabilities that match—and even exceed—the more expensive competition!
•Welds mild and stainless steel, 24-ga. to 1/4"
•25-135-amp welding range
•Powered by standard 120v household current
•Compare to similar welders that sell for over $500
•Backed by Eastwood's no-hassle return policy and 3-year warranty
Mine is awsome and its a knock off of the miller welders with the unlimited voltage selection and wire speeds. I have not seen one bad thing said about this welder except the wire door or dents on delevery. I love mine to death and was only 300 bucks.
