I've got a 1997 Del Sol S with Auto tranny (d16y7 motor)
I'm planning (long term) to put in a B16A2 since this motor was a factory option for this car.

I've read all about the hassle of OBD2-OBD1 and vis versa being a pain, but what about an OBD2 engine into an OBD2 car? Is it still a pain being OBD2 or is it fine since they're both using the same diagnostic?

Secondly, which tranny would I want to use? Y21 or S4C?

I know a lot of people like the B20 more, but my thinking here is that it will be less of a hassle since the car was designed to have a B16A2.

But the specs look wrong, isnt the b16A2 supposed to have 160hp, 111 trq? These are saying 170/113

 

One is SiR-I and the other is SiR-II. Slightly different models it looks like.

 

those are the JDM specs. an a2(usdm) has 160/111.

now a b16a will fit just fine. but so would a b17/18/20. be a little bit tighter but mount all the same. just so you know it technically won't be easier.

you're doing an AT to MT swap while you're at it im guessing? if you can find a cheap s4c snag that. otherwise just rock an LSD y21. mines never done me wrong far.
