Default rebuilding d15b1, i have a noob type question

im thinking about rebuilding my current motor, since it smokes. i have already had the head rebuilt, and the car still burns oil. so im assuming that its the rings correct? this WILL be my 1st attempt to tear a motor down. i do have a friend who is going to help me. i was looking on ebay at rebuild kits, and this is what i found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CRX-DX...ht_4355wt_1037

so i searched on here for info on this kit and found nothing, so i turned to google to help me, and this is what i found: http://www.d-series.org/forums/natur...-non-vtec.html

although one member on there mentions that they use the kit, he doesnt say if it was reliable or not. im not interested in swapping, YET. i want to get the experience of rebuilding a motor first, and this is my opportunity to do so...

if you feel the need to flame, then do so. ill scroll down threw this until someone is awesome enough to help.

Actual parts from Honda is typically better. But you can find good kits that are cheaper from other places.

Do as much research as possible. An engine rebuild while "seeming" straight forward can mess you up. Many a time I have gotten kids at my door saying "I used standard acl bearings and jdm pistons with new rings yo!?" Almost always installing with out checking tolerances main, crank journal clearance no dialbore guage not even shitty plastiguage just slap that **** together because "my homie said to build it like that".

You get your moneys worth. I suggest finding a machine shop that will let you participate in the build up. Alot of them do.

Man. Like I said before and im not kocking you in particular but eBay does not manufacture ****. So the answer is yes or no.

They are an auction market place, it is up to the consumer to verifie the seller.
