Default 1993 b7 z6 head mini me swap help

Ok so I got this thing running last night and cannot figure out why it is sounding like a subaru. It's a z6 head with matching intake and header with a b7 bottom end and a chipped ECU. NO cel, starts up and idles really rough. My spark plugs are coming out black on the tips. Set the timing it was off a tooth or two got that fixed but now it still bogs really bad and sounds like a subaru. Any input is appriciated.

Sounds like timing to me. CELs? And it's chipped for what engine? A stock P28 would be sufficient.

no cel's, i took out the oil jet inbetween the two pistons. I lined up everything for timing. TDC the crank then lined up the cam gear too.I dunno what else it could be.

maybe he sent you a basemap that was edited already, I would swap for a friends virgin ecu to see if that will correct it, because it sounds like timing 100 percent either ignition timing in the computer or the timing belt is still off. If your spark plugs are black that means theyre getting fouled out I think. Switch ECU's triple check your timing and it should be fixed.

firing order is correct. I've tried another stock ECU, same P06 but out of an auto but it wouldn't make a difference it would just throw the CEL for the tranny i believe. I have spark on both the plug and the wire but for some reason no fuel. YOu can pull the plug and the car won't die but if you pull any other sylinder it trys to die. I am so out of ideas.

even though the plugs are getting spark could the wires be bad for some really odd reason?

Were they working before? If so its highly doubtful but you can check their resistance using a voltmeter. What distributor are you using?

using the d16z6 dizzy. They were working before but im starting to wonder something. I saw a post of someone chipping their P06 ecu. Well i chipped my own and not untill now did i know you needed to add vtec components to the non vtec ecu. So im starting to think it's and ECU issue, my brother should be over with a p28 with a richtuned eprom so we are gonna try that.

I used a voltmeter and it has voltage coming out of the clip, gas in the injector it's just not firing. The only thing i did to the wiring was added oil pressure sensor and vtec to the clips and plugged them in.

Even if you dont have the Vtec components in the ECU it will still run just fine only the Vtec cross over will not happen and the motor will run on the non Vtec cam lobes just like a D15B7. Having the spark plugs black is a over fueling issue or a no fire issues ie missfire. Check for spark on each cylinder and replace all plugs with new ones. Verify that all the injectors are getting pulse signal to open and that they are opening and not stuck. Get a virgin P28 as that will run the mini me motor perfectly. Tuning for best power and reliability is idea of coarse. Are you using the Z6 injectors??

Everything is stock except exhaust. Intake and header are stock. Fuel injectors are stock 240's. The only other thing I did was take a d16y7 cam gear and Put it on the head. I also swapped injectors from one cylinder to another. Even injector clips, same result.cam gear says 1.6 on it. That's the only other thing I can think of but if the timing was off the injector should be shooting fuel. It's not shooting fuel at all in the cylinder.

when i read the mini me swap in the FAQ he didn't say if there was going to be a timing issue, like if i need an adjustable cam gear to adjust one tooth or what not.I ordered an adjustable cam gear so hopefully i can get the time off that.

Im guessing this is going to still be a time issue and ecu issue as well. I also found out the tune on the chip the guy gave me was a basemap.

From what I've read your good with the Y7 gear. Can you try your old distributor to rule distributor out?

yup tried that. It got a little better but not much. Im wondering if it could be the wires for some reason.

Im also notcing a really really high amount of air being sucked into the intake manifold. So much it sucks my hand. But i still am stumped on why it is not firing in cylinder 2.Got spark, car starts,i have no vacuum leaks or coolant leaks.
