cut the front of stock muffler off. run 3" piping into it, and then cut the bottom of the muffler out and have the 3" exhaust bend down so the exhaust exits the bottom of the muffler

2.5" with a couple resonators will do the noise trick.

bone stock look, lots of flow.

You could gut the stock muffler and put a 2.5" 5 x 8 magnaflow inside. I had a muffler shop crush bend a pipe to look like the stock pipe after the muffler and put that and the stock tip on. Looks totaly stock, not as quiet as I'd like though

put a turbo on your car and run an open downpipe.. that way you can fit the stock backbox to your car.. unfortunately this trick only works while your car is parked

hmmm.. with no tip, im sure those ES mufflers would look somewhat stock. how much do they usually run? do they come 2.5 straight thru?

Yes, the ES Oval comes in a 2.5" straight-thru version. A lot of the guys in the Civic/del Sol forum run this muffler with custom piping. http://www.jdmhondaparts.com/ has them listed on their website.

None of the higher flowing mufflers will look stock because most of them are riced out (chromed, 3" outlet, etc). I got a magnaflow, and if you dont run a tip, it wills somewhat stock.. except the outlet is 2.5" instead of 1" on the stock box

It is louder than stock, but if you punch the clutch in and let the car idle as you roll pass the cops, they won't notice... just dont' go WOT right after.

I've got a Borla "Turbo" hehe 2.25" (small, I know) all the way back, no resonator and a 2.25" tip...looks stock, sound like 5% louder than stock at idle...just barely noticeable (can't hear inside car). but it is straight through and still sounds deep and pretty loud at WOT.

I've heard that Borla is being bought-out or some **** and I am considering buying my 3" now, preparing for the future
