b16a2 turbo choice
Hi.
I have read different threads now about different turbo choices.
My setup is :
b16a2 0.5 overbore
wiseco 81.5mm forged pistons (p2w 0.08mm)
9.0:1
blueprinted and balanced bottom section.
eagly forged h-rods
lightened flywheel
acl race bearings
stock head
stock cams
blox adjustable cam gears.
My choices are either
gt2871
gt3071 .63 ar
or maybe gt3076?
my goal is aproximately 400whp.
This is not a drag car and is going to be raced in GT3 racing.
I dont want too late of a spool up.
Any suggestions?

GT3 class racing. Ah. Got it. But if you're actually in FIA GT3, you're outclassed from the beginning with the Aston Martins, Porsche GT3, Ferrari 458s, and R35 GTRs. If its simply labeled "GT3" class because it is a local classification in Norway, than that's a different story.
400whp is a LOT to ask for in that kind of circuit racing, by way of control and use of power, but it is certainly possible. I take it that you're wanting to obtain 400whp on some longer tracks with beter sweeping curves and very few hairpins. If that's the case, then I suggest NO LARGER than the GT3071R in a .63A/R using the 60mm exhaust wheel option and not the 56mm wheel option that is shared with the GT2871R. For the B16 with that compression, the GT3076R is just too large for the powerband unless you're chaing displacement to even more with a better final drive.
The GT2871R is really more for the shorter courses with the b16, with about 320-330whp on tap. It is a bit peppier with its 56mm exhaust wheel for the B16, but has trouble with a bit of top end on the longer courses, even with a scramble boost controller that will temporarily bump power up to about the 330whp. The powerband is smoother for the 1.6, but lack of top end hurts you on most longer tracks.
So, Either the GT3071R .63A/R (60mm) or GT2871R .63A/R (56mm). I don't know what tracks you're specifically trying to go for here, which is why i can't say which is the best. that question is ultimately up to you to answer.
Good luck.

You are right about the GT3. This is the norwegian not the FIA gt3.
For info the engine is mid mounted and its a rwd!
Thanks for the great informative answer.
I think i will go for the GT3071R .63a/r
