Is it possible to pass smog with a non-california catalytic converter? Like the ones at kragen magnaflow . they have california legal and non california legal. anyone tried it , has it passed?
mine did. it failed at first, a shop mechanic looked over the results and told me right away it was the cat. got the magnaflow cat from kragen (direct bolt on replacement). i had a tire shop replaced it just cause i didnt have the right tools. the employee asked "wait...is this california legal?" i replied "..i dont know, i just got it from Kragen 5 mins ago...". lol thats when i dint know much about cars.
$130 difference between the two. Another reason why **** California.
In for the difference between the two that warrants a $130 difference in price.

Yes problem is you can't get one shipped to you and the muffler guy won't install. I bought a ca magnaflow for 100 shipped from a seller on eBay and had it welded for 30.
