Is it possible to pass smog with a non-california catalytic converter? Like the ones at kragen magnaflow . they have california legal and non california legal. anyone tried it , has it passed?

The sniff test itself, probably. But some places just won't pass you if they don't see the California approved sticker or whatever

mine did. it failed at first, a shop mechanic looked over the results and told me right away it was the cat. got the magnaflow cat from kragen (direct bolt on replacement). i had a tire shop replaced it just cause i didnt have the right tools. the employee asked "wait...is this california legal?" i replied "..i dont know, i just got it from Kragen 5 mins ago...". lol thats when i dint know much about cars.

$130 difference between the two. Another reason why **** California.

In for the difference between the two that warrants a $130 difference in price.

Yes problem is you can't get one shipped to you and the muffler guy won't install. I bought a ca magnaflow for 100 shipped from a seller on eBay and had it welded for 30.
