Civic won't crank with key
I was working on my 2000 SiR the other night putting all the carpet and interior back in after doing some work to it. Had the radio going and all the doors opened and of course killed the battery. So I live on a hill and had no access to a booster pack so I start pushing the car, jump in and pop the clutch and start it. I circle my block and then bring my car back to the driveway. I turn it off then 20 minutes go to start it. Nothin, no turning over or anything. Clutch was fully in and still got nothing. I found that the only way I can get my car to start now is if I jump the solenoid on the starter and make it start that way, or if I push it down the hill and jump start it like that. So the quesiton is. What is causing my car not to start without having to jump it or jump the solenoid. I would really like to just push the clutch in and start it again.
Thank you for any help offered!

check to see if the plug on your clutch pedal is broken. its a little circle plug at the top of your clutch pedal that presses the clutch switch button in when you press on the pedal.
I had the EXACT same problem. 91 Civic LX w/ b16 absolutely WOULD NOT start unless I pop started it or jumped the starter solenoid. I went through all the diagnostics,
Replaced:
Main Relay,
Starter,
Plugs,
Wires,
Rotor Button,
Distributor Cap,
All that never fixed anything. My next repair would have been the Ignition Tumbler, but I happened to be at Crap-Mart and saw a negative battery cable for 6 bucks. The "Import Style" cable wouldn't fit my terminal, so I used my negative clamp, spliced the sleeve and ran the bolt through for the body ground, and ran the loop end to the transmission ground and Voila!!!
After all that headache, I replaced the negative battery cable and haven't had a problem since, starts up EVERY TIME!
