Default Clutch issues?

Hey there guys, well these last few days ive notice that my 00 civic hx has been getting hard to start up the first time. So as i tried to start my car today its didn't even crank so i further inspected it and i noticed this near the clutch pedal. Will this be the reason it doesn't start or it might be something else?

Your CMC is leaking but that won't stop the car from starting while you're down there see if the saftey switch is still intact.

Should be at the very base of the clutch pedal. It's what lets you start the car when you turn the key. Clutch pedal has to be fully depressed while you turn the key.

Is your car in any gear when you try and start it? If your CMC is leaking and not allowing the clutch to fully disengage, the starter is going to have a hard time turning the car over

What do you mean hard to start, though? Like...cranking slow? Or just a lot of cranks to start?

Test/charge/replace the battery.

Any partially healthy starter will be able to pull the car forward in first gear. The fact that it's a high torque motor, running on hundreds of amps, and the very high gear reduction of the starter pinion and flywheel, the car WILL move in first or reverse, even with the brake on. Take it from me, on dry pavement, starting in reverse will move the car with the e brake firmly pulled. Dont do that.

Also just because the Neutral Safety switch is there doesn't mean it hasn't gotten flakey.

I have to have my pedal at just the right height to start mine. I need to adjust that switch but have been too lazy.

A test that you can do is turn the key to start and then push the clutch down to the floor. If it begins cranking as you depress the pedal, that switch may need adjustment.
