Mini-me Vtec Problem

Mini-me Vtec Problem
So i have a 95 eg coupe and it has a mini-me swap but I think vtec is not engaging because past 5k the car just falls on its face
I tested the car out against my brothers EF sedan all his car has is a JDM d15 non vtec dual point and he beat me from a dig and roll
My car has d15b7 with a Y8 head, d16z6 manifolds, P28 computer with the wiring done and a TT41u distributor, is there something im missing that can cause it to not hit vtec?
Is there a way to run a vtec switch?
