Advancing Ignition Timing after ECU tuning
had an ecu tuning just last week. yesterday, i tried advancing the ignition timing (via distributor). i advanced it 4 degrees more.
pull is greater now, in fact its pulling much better after i advanced the distributor. and there is no detonation.
my question is, the fact that the ecu was already tuned, will it affect certain things? like lets say fuel economy etc. or is it ok, as long as there is no decrease in power?
power is much better now after i advanced the dizzy, thats why im asking can i keep it this way or should i return it back.
it was on 12 degrees adv when it was tuned, and i adjusted it to 16 degrees ADV now.

Nobody can tell you whether it's ok to advance more with your tune except your tuner. If you want to make adjustments I'd suggest doing so in the ECU so you can actually see the values. Advancing it 4 across the board may help your low end if it was conservative and hurt your top end if it was aggressive, for example. Good luck. And yes it can effect air/fuel, so if you don't have a wideband don't do it.
