Default S300 V.2, A2W and water temp compensation

Posted this in the engine management section but no one has responded....

I have the Version 2 of S300. Im setting my car up on liquid to air intercooler. For street driving i dont want to deal with putting ice in it so i want to set up a water temp sensor for the water in the intercooler. Basicly so that S300 would know its got warmer water in it and be able to pull timing. Ive been looking through S300 and dont really see a way to do this. Unless i just am missing it. Has anyone ever done this?

The water is going to get pretty hot, pretty quick. You'll need a heat exchanger or ice.

Its going to have a 5-6 gallon reservoir. I wont be beating it up on the street, just an occasional 3rd gear pull. When at the track it will have ice water in it.

If the water in the ic gets warmer then the air gets warmer. So you should be able to use the IAT correction table to do what you're wanting to do.

Or a temp switch that uses an input on the s300. Make that input switch to a lower timing map. It would just be a set temp to switch maps.

You really should add a heat exhanger...

No need for a second water temp sensor and map, that's what the IAT ignition trim is for.

Im going to be using the switch for alternate maps for a low boost pump gas street map, and then the other map an E98 "kill" map.

i was worried about using a heat exchanger for the fact that when at the track the ambient air on a hot day would be contributing to the heating of the water. Only way to get around that would make it easy to remove the excanger just for track duty. And im too lazy for that. As long as i have a solid 350-400hp for street duty ill be fine.

I'm guessing the heat exchanger would probably help cool the water before it enters the tank to slow the ice melting?? Yet again it would also depend on how hot the water that comes out of the cooler is. Anyone have any info on water temp exiting the cooler?

I would assume that the air coming out of the turbo would heat the water up much faster than a heat exchanger would

As previously states if the water starts to get hot the iats will also heat up. Really the only thing that matters is the iat. If the water is hot and the iat's are still within reason there is no need to pull timing.

I guess somehow the purpose of a2w memo missed some peoples desk. A2w is not for extended use. It's for short controlled runs. If your thinking a2w is gonna benefit you on the street your mistaken. If changing the ice every 5minutes is an inconvenience, then its not for you. Once the ice melts your benefits are gone. Physical science 101 dude.

It can be used on the street. Lots of OE cars do it, however, they all have heat exchangers.

You must have got the "I'm a dumb ***" version of that memo. There are a lot of cars that use a2w coolers on the street and they work just as well as a2a just has to be done right.

If you run a heat exchanger on the street, no need to remove it for track duty, just install valves to by pass it.

Yeah again, a standard a2w setup won't work. You have to add this groovey heat exchanger and ad valves and all this just to have on the street when a2a does just as well. Doesn't it seem like a lot of extra work and repugnant *** **** just to for a mild gain on the street.

Jeeze negative nancy....

No ones asking you to use A2W. Im well aware of every aspect of the A2W setup. Im not gonna be hauling *** on the street. This is going to be a 95% track car and might have to drive it to the track sometimes and take it out for drive to hang out with friends. Im not gonna be on the slicks on the street trying to race everyone....so if you can check the attitude at the door that would be great.

Back to the topic at hand.
