Looks like my engine is leaking oil from the gasket on the variable timing solenoid. Looks like a pretty simple thing to replace (the gasket). Here is a picture of the solenoid and gasket for the Accord, I have a prelude, but it is the same concept I think...

Question 1: Do you need to add any kind of gasket sealant or hondabond when I put the new gasket on?
Question 2: Since this is a "timing" solenoid I question if there is a special way to install it such that installing it wrong will effect timing, like with the distributor, or can I just stick it back on there.
Thanks in advance.

vtec solenoid gasket. no sealant, you do not want anything to squeeze out and stop up the screen in the gasket. There is no special way to install it. Unbolt the solenoid change the gasket, reinstall. three bolts piece of cake.

i would like to suggest use some liquid gasket on the outer ring of the gasket not the inner(to avoid any blockage like what 97ludedude said) then only it'll be settled once and for all.
Took me 3set of ori honda part to learn this nasty little gasket do like to play trick with us by keep on leaking, there's more than 50psi of oil pressure that try to get thru it man...
