So this is my new head i got off ebay. It is a d16z6 head. it has been rebuilt and looks fantastic other than this little nic. I dont think it will be a problem but i know little about aluminum heads and less about hondas. So what do you guys think?

Is it completely flat? Or are there metal burrs you can feel sticking up? Have you contacted the seller?

I would say it should be fine but I'm not sure if it will cause a problem with the head gasket

I would contact seller and get my money back.

If you bought it like that then I would contact the seller like stated prior. But I've personally installed a head that looked worse and managed fine without blowing gaskets. I've heard horror stories of people installing much worse than mine even and they said theirs were fine all the time too.

^^^Yes.

Why even chance it?

I'm sure you paid around 250-350 bucks for this head, you should have got a flawless one. This would not be acceptable for me.

Hmmm...?

Maybe I'm different...but if I'm buying something that is supposed to be rebuilt/redone. I don't expect it to have chips/nicks in it. Whether its barely noticeable or a large chip.

IMO..........

What I would do is, go to a machine shop and ask for their professional opinon on the head.
That nick may be noithing to worry about.
OR, ask for a refund from the seller, IF that nick wasn't noted in the post.

However, you may need to go threw paypal to get your money back... Quite easy for the seller to tell you to F off. Did you already leave feedback?

^^
This

The only way I could assume to repair it would be to grind down the head till that notch is non existent, given you have that much left to grind down of course.
