Default Which ecu do I need for B18c7

Hi I am going to put a B18c7 motor withToda cams into an ej8Civic Coupe.I don't have an ecu with the motor and would like to know which one to use.
I also want to delete the immobiliser.
I have seen several on ebay that may suit but its a bit of a landmine.
Has anyone used Rich Tuned stuff. Thanks in advance.

Going to depend what harness you use, the civics or the motor harness. What year is the motor? If you are going to tune it you will need to purchase an OBD1 ECU and a conversion harness too connect to your exisiting harness.

Ebay = crap ecus with crap basemaps generally.

Your best bet is to use a chipped obd1 vtec ecu: http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcar...vtec-p-31.html

You will also need an obd2 to obd1 jumper harness.

At the moment I only have the 96 ej8 Civic harness, ecu, motor harness etc but no motor harness or ecu with the c7 which is a 99 build originally but since rebuilt.Which model OBD1 ECU should I get ? and I gather the ej8 must run the OBD2 as standard. Why not run a OBD2 ?
So I don't have to specifically run a Type R ecu just a chipped any model OBD1 is that correct.

I assume a P28 with a conversion harness would suit your needs. There arnt any viable tuning solutions for the obd2 ecu which is the reason for needing an obd1 ecu

Yes I read mtber's link to his business and learnt a lot. What I don't understand is on purchasing one of the modified ecus why are they only good for a base map as opposed to using a factory Type R ecu which would be ready to go.I live on an island State and there would not be a tuner who would have ever seen a Honda. Its all V8 na or turboed Nissans down our way.How would one tune a chipped ecu I thought one would have to have something like a Hondata attached to be able to change anything.Hoping I'm making sense.

A basemap would be better for you then a stock type r ecu especially if you get it from mtber which I highly recommend, getting ready to order a s300v2 from him.

If they can tune v8s and turbo nissans they should be able to tune your car no problem.

That still beggars my question.
If you can tune a chipped ecu what is the need for a Hondata ?
