Default VTEC & Turbo?

I was talking with a group of friends that are in various local street racing crews and I was telling the of my plans to turbo a B series engine or a lS JDM engine. They tell me that would be very hard since V-TEC would accelerate my timing while the turbo would tend to retard my timing??? Is this true and if not can you tell me how it would work.

Thanx

I wouldn't listen to them. Plenty of b series motors are turbocharged everyday without problems. And a turbo does not retard your timing...it only compresses more air into your intake and then into the cylinders. These guys don't seem to know much. Start reading threads on here. Especially in the Forced Induction forum. You will soon learn that b series motors are good platforms to turbocharge.

O boi what, the only problem you might have is overlap, but that can always be dialed out with the right tunning.

Sounds like you hang out with a bunch of people that don't know what they're talking about.

all i can say that my goal is Ls/Vtec+Turbo+Nitrous, by January!!!! it's just fun to say so I can't imagine how fun it's going to be to drive!
I've known a few people with turbo b16's and ls/vtec turbo without any problems. a friend of mine ran a 90 hatch w/ b16 with only fuel pump and injectors and regulator on 15lbs of boost daily. his best run was only a 13.6 on street tires though.

damn only 13.5 on 15ibs, something is wrong there. Maybe it needs some extra tunning.

You must be hanging out with some VW boys that roll around here. That statement is not true.

Tell them they are morons, sincerely Doodoo.
