I can tell you right now that if you try to handle this through your insurance company they'll likely total your car.
You'll need a new steering wheel, new airbags/wiring, new airbag computer, new impact sensors (for the front I'm assuming)
Plus labor, other parts, new paint for the car, possibly other electrical parts that will be diagnosed, plus if it hit you hard enough to blow the bags you might have a damaged frame as well.
Oh, and you'll need a new airbag tray or dashboard depending on the car (if the bag ripped through the dash, you can forget making a claim; they'll total it in a heartbeat)
It's simply not worth the insurance company's time and money to fix it all most of the time
Sorry man

94 del sol. it wasnt a collision of any sort. just a chunk of something, basically looked like a cubed block of wood, in the road, my car is lowered, so it could have hit the tranny case, oil pan, front lower frame etc. all i know is i ran over whatever it was and heard a giant bang and airbags in my face.
