My son's trying to run a amp and subs,but my civic didn't have and rear speakers-I thought that was odd-but thought that it was only an option when purchased.there are no wires accessable in the rear.its a 1999 honda civic ex model.is this model per-wired for rear speaker installation??we wanted to hook wires from the rear to his subs.is there any way to run wires from the radios wire harness to the rear to have rear sound??

You run the subs from the amp so the speaker wires you're looking for are not needed.

 

The wires are there, the plugs will be taped to the harness near where the rear speakers would go. I wouldn't use those wires for amp and subs though, they're only 22 gauge.

 

thanks-but he wanted to add rear speakers in the back-I would just need to find the speaker connections but dont see any available-do the wires come under the back seat? or by the rear quater panel?

 

You have to search for them. They are there unless the previous owner removed them. Look closest to the rear speakers first.

 

If it's an EX then it's a either a coupe or sedan. They will be up under the rear deck.

 

hes after the rear wire for high level input into the amp as aposed to using rca like an after market head unit

No kidding. You're assuming he's talking about a stock headunit as opposed to aftermarket, which wasn't mentioned.

I think they're installing amp, subs and rear speakers. The OP never said anything about using the high levels inputs.

Edit. But he did say he wanted to hook the speakers to the sub. RCAs all day.

 

The OP made another thread looking for a radio code for the stock stereo code so I'm guessing that's why, there are no RCA outputs on a stock headunit.

That said I'd probably spend the money on a better headunit and some half decent 6.5" round speakers for the front and worry about the rest later.

But, I agree, I was half way wondering why there is no rear speakers.

A decently priced Alpine HU, and some infinity speakers will do wonders, without an amp.
