So my new civic is all stock and mostly original. It runs great but as far as I can tell, nothing has been done to it except for oil changes. Currently the only leak is the front main seal but that will be taken car of with the timing belt.

Timing belt and the rest of the belts are still the original Honda belts. Timing belt and alternator looks ok but I'm surprised the PS belt is still good lol that thing has cracks all over.

So far I've ordered this:

- WATER PUMP oem part # 19200-P2A-A01
- TIMING BELT oem part # 14400-P2F-A01
- ALTERNATOR BELT oem part # 31110-P2A-004
- P/S (POWER STEERING) BELT oem part # 56992-P2A-003
- Camshaft Oil Seal 91213-P2F-A01
- Crank Oil Seal 91212-P2F-A01
- Valve Cover Gasket 12341-P2F-A00
- Timing Belt Tensioner 14520-P2A-305

I'm probably gonna order NGK plugs and wires and maybe a K&N drop in filter(unless you guys can recommend something else).


What else should I get? Or since it runs fine should I just get the above parts and call it good? I'm new to hondas so I'm not sure what the common maintenance items are.

BTW this is a completely stock motor and I'm not planning on building it or anything, just need it to be reliable.

Well yeah oil change is on my list too of course. What about transmission fluid?(5 speed manual). It drives and shifts fine with no grinds. Is it one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" things or should I replace is?

 

If you don't know the history I'd go ahead, Honda MTF only 2 quarts or so.

OP, I wouldn't recommend using seafoam. Especially on higher mileage engines. I don't know your mileage, but I have read negative reviews of seafoam. If you're interested in doing it, look up some reviews first.

 

Ok I'll do OEM wires. I'm a big fan of OEM parts. And I know it's bad to seafoam the oil with high mileage. I'll just do the intake and fuel system if anything.

I'd change it if you don't know when/if it was changed.

If it's a '92 - '95 Just put plain old 10W30 in it, Honda MTF seems to cause bearing failure when used in them ,its just too thin (those transmissions were spec'd to used 10W30 when they were new before Honda had their own MTF) If it's a '96 - '00 though put MTF in it.

 

Sounds good.
If anything just buy some Lukas fuel injector cleaner. It's like a few bucks at Auto Zone.

 

While your in there you may want to consider a valve adjustment.
