Default Reset ECU timing? Phearable.net ecu

Hey guys, I have a b18 in my 95 cx, I just got a phearable chip for my motor. I had a shop solder it in for me. I put the ecu into my car and between like 3k-6k my car has a mis to it. It seems like the knock sensor was throwing a code. I set the mechanical timing good. A friend of mine said to jump the ecu connector and let the car idle for the ecu to set the timing itself. Is this true? Please help. Thanks.

There is no such thing as ECU timing. Your friend is a moron. You had this chip installed into what ECU? And why did you need it chipped?

I put in a basemap so I can get it tuned on crome. Its a chipped p72 ecu. I figured he was lying but I just thought I'd ask. I know to use a timing light you have to jump it but never heard of having to reset the ecu.

I'm confused. You know the basemap is unalterable on that chip right? You can't tune it. If the basemap is causing your issues you're stuck with it until you can get to the tuner. Hope he burns chips.

Ok so the chip is untunable then so be it. Doesn't mean you gotta be an *** about it. So any idea what the actual problem could be?

Who's being an ***? I'm asking you questions because you don't seem to be aware of some basic information or have made some incorrect/uninformed decisions. If the problem was not there before you got the ECU chipped then it's your basemap.

If the problem was there BEFORE then list the codes you "think" are being thrown.

will if he is saying to jump the connector by the ecu and do ignition timing, so that the ecu doesn't adjust it by itself, than he is correct. You will need a timing gun and loosen your bolts on your distributor and adjust it too oem (16 btdc)
