Default 95 sedan clutch issues

I thought Id make a new thread since my last one wasn't getting me the answers I needed. I have a 95 sedan with a stock f22b2, 259k, and my clutch pedal is unusually stiff. My car is driving horribly, I'll be at 3k rpm's in first and I can't get upto 20mph to save my life. It'll barely take off from a stand still, but the longer I let it sit the better it drives, the more I drive it the worse it gets. I think it's something to do with my clutch? Possibly my throw out bearing, or maybe it's the actual clutch it's self? Any ideas would be awesome, I wanna get an idea of what it could be before I start tearing it apart.

I have a feeling it's something to do with the throwout bearing. I'm going to take the slave cylinder off and examine it when I get off work.

It's my first time working with an f-series tranny but if it's anything like the b-series I'm sure I can figure it out. some input would be nice though.

^This has me confused.

I am also unclear about how you plan to actually examine the throwout bearing with the transmission still on the car.
Pulling the slave, clutch fork and cover will only get you a view from the side and is doubtful to confirm anything about the condition of the bearing.

Are you getting any noise when driving that sounds like a possible failed bearing?
Any burnt friction material smell that could be the clutch?

Barely going anywhere with high engine speed certainly sounds like a worn clutch disk to me.
Again though, until you drop the transmission it will be difficult to tell.

I'm stumped on it too. I thought maybe the fork fell off of the little pivot ball thing it sits on, but I'm gonna pull the tranny off tomorrow morning anyways to check it out. The guy I bought the car from said he had the clutch replaced about 5k miles before I bought it (i put about 15k on it) but he said a lot of things that wheren't exactly true.

Ugh, man I feel for ya, dropping one of our transmissions purely for diagnosis sucks big time.
Let us know what you find.
Good luck.

I'm not looking foward to it, especially since i'll be swapping the engine out in about a month or two, but i need to drive something till then!

Okay, so this is what's puzzling me, I just drove home from work (about 7 miles) and my car was acting up on the way there, it was sitting in the parking lot for about 8 hours and when I drove it home it was completely fine! The clutch wasn't super stiff (softer than when it's acting up) it didn't over rev when I gave it some gas, and the oil light never came on!

When it starts over rev-ing the oil light will come on when the car is at a complete stop and I don't give it any gas, but as soon as i put my foot on the pedal the light goes away.

I'm guessing the oil light is a related symptom but idk how all these thing would tie together, maybe its a coincidence?

Either way I think i'll replace the master cylinder tomorrow since that seems like the culprit, but I still don't see how it would cause this over rev situation. Sorry for this lengthy explanation, I'm completely stumped on this and any little bit of help i can get would be amazing!

So my car is still running right, no over rev-ing while accelerating.

The oil light still comes on about 10 minutes after the engine warms up, but my car still drives fine so i'm going to rule that out of the equation and get a new sensor.

I've been doing re-search and I have a feeling it's my master cylinder, but idk how that'll cause it to over rev while accelerating?

Any ideas guys?

bump for ideas

Im about 80% sure it's my master cylinder, cause my clutch pedal will randomly get super stiff then go back to having a little slack, so what else could it be?

either way i'll probably end up replacing it in the morning since it probably needs to be done soon anyways. A confirmation on this would be nice, hahaha.

Clutch master cylinder sounds good to me. Also check the fluid line and slave cylinder.

Slave cylinder was replaced about 6 months ago. I think I'll try bleeding Ty master cylinder first and see if some clean fluid helps at all.
