I just went thru this myself... What you have to do is unbolt everything. Start by jacking up the driver side and removing the wheel, Then take off the driver side splash shield (not really take it of, But unbolt it as much as you can). Go back top side and take out the adjuster bolt from the alternator, Followed by the pivot bolt on the bottom, Then you proceed to take off all the wires (2). While you're still top side remove the adjustment bracket and set it aside. Now you have to go under the car and do the same to the main bracket. Once you remove all that from the back of the block, You can pull it out thru the unbolted part of the splash shield. I don't know if you'll have as much trouble with the main bracket as I did, But I bent a ratchet trying to take that bitch off. It took me a day and a half to do it. Good luck and if you need more help ask. If you need to talk in person hit me up on aim (Ih8urhero).

Ah, I get my alt out the bottom of the car. To remove it without removing the drive shaft. Get the wheel off the ground and turn it to one side of the other. This will angle the driveshaft and giev you JUST enough room to squeeze that sucker out the bottom

I tried that, But I still didn't have enough room to pull it out. I say the best way to do it is from the bottom.

Nonononono - I have a '90 CRX Si also. I replaced the alternator by pulling it out from the top, I removed the master cylinder!

If I could do it from the top on my car, you can too. It's way easier from the top, believe me!

dude, it slides out the bottom without having to remove anything. after removing the lower alternator bracket, you pull it out with the bottom forward and the pulley facing down. you will see it will just slide out like the solution to a puzzle. 30 second job, if you know how to do it.

... I never thought of that, it's definitely worth a try. I just remember trying to pull it out from the bottom, and that stupid axle got in the way, so I immediatly went to the top and removed it from there...

That's what I'm talking about, Only I had to unbolt the splash guard. The only reason it took me so long is because I tried to take it out off the top at first by unbolting the master cylinder (Didn't work for me). Then I bent my only ratchet on the lower bracket ( I didn't bend the handle, I actually bent the square drive part). I did put in too many steps though, Sorry about that.

well i went tru this **** the other day on my Z6 HB...
alternator was bad and the only way i could take it off was moving **** since theres no space at all....
i had to unbolt the intake manifold, and move it a little to the left so i could have enough space to take the alt off.
IMO thats the best way... better than taking the master cylinder off and then **** something up on the brakes..... just informaing anybody with a EF and a Z6... alternator its not going to come off unless u bolt the intake mani off... peace
