Default Auto Enthusiasts are often so cool

Went to local SSCA Tech day to pick up snow tires for my EF Hatch RX car. TT and Track BMWs all lined up so pretty and shiny for the scrutineers. I'm ogling their cars and some of them are around my $500 EF talking about what a great RX and AX car it'll make. They're on me about making sure I drag it to a AX or HPDE to see what it'll do.

Not really a tech thread but thought it was cool that guys with cars I drool over are into my beat up EF.

Those guys are used to watching Hondas pass them and occaisionally show respect lol.

Go to a PCA event and you will get treated like scum.

I've been treated like **** at both BMWCCA and PCA events. People need to just calm down sometimes and stop caring so much about what everyone else is doing. Not everyone has the same goals/expectations, and from my experience the BMWCCA and PCA guys are the worst. This is also coming from someone who owns an M3 and is a BMWCCA member.

What is your opinion on a civic for a beginners track car?

I'll be posting a thread with some questions in my own thread shortly... no more thread jacking.

Yeah, there are lot of people who think they are better than the people who have less $ than they do. These guys are the worst. $ ain't jack in my book. You can be rich, but don't be an *** about it. Luckily not everyone is like that at BMWCCA and PCA. There are still some cool cats.

The best thing to do is show up with a beater and smoke 'em!! If they won't let you do it with a none BMW or Porsche beater (like CRX), then buy a beater BMW/Porsche and do it! :-)

I'd like to show up to one of these events with my Haulmark Motorcoach and stacker trailer. See what they do when I pull out my EG Hatch.

you guys must have "sour" groups, i guess. i have ran with Bluegrass BMWCCA and Mid Ohio PCA, both groups were outstanding. any "beginner" who asks me about which group/s to run with, my first answer is the Bluegrass group. the advanced classroom sessions were amazing, so for a beginner, i would bet it would be even greater.

as far as the people, i didn't even come across one person who was a "dick". after every session there was someone there asking how the session went, etc. with the PCA group, we got to do a course walk sunday morning. i had an "older", "richer" gentleman come up to me. "hey, how are you, i am so and so.." i replied and he then said "you could probably show me a thing or two around here. do you mind if i ask you a couple questions?" so, we finished walking the second half of the track. the whole time, discussing the track and various other things, including the civic.

so, it really must be a region dependant "thing". i can't ever remember too many "bad apples" at any event i have been to.

Yeah, you could say that.

I personally had issues, my good friend that ran with them in his 944 cup car did, and another friend with a 350z.

Im glad other areas are better but even when dealing with PCA headquarters when the local group still had not refunded me for a DE after 2 months was a nightmare.... I finally threatened legal action and then my refund appeared the next day!

The refund was due to me cancelling ahead of time for an HPDE because of how the head guy had been to me through the sign up process. I followed the refund rules to a T and even paid the admin fee for cancelling.

I run with a group called Darkside DE darksidede.com that broke away from PCA because of similar issues and I have never felt disrespected with them ever...and they have a ton of porsche/bmw people. Sadly they just run RRR.

So yeah, you might be sour too.
