00 Type R ecu immobilizer
i cant find a straight forward answer...
I have an ecu from my 00 type r (im running hondata right now) collecting dust, im building an engine close to b18c5 spec.
I want to use my 00 type R ecu to run the engine...
Now my question is, to run this engine would i need to...
*Switch the ingnition switch harness? which plugs to the under dash fuse pannel...
*Transfer the ignition switch to the new car?? i can re pin another ignition switch to use the same key on my type r and new car.
*Do i have to carry one of my 3 type r keys on the key chain??
*does the key have to be in the ignition switch to activate something in the ecu. or can i put it on my key ring.
*Is there a special wire from the ignition harness to the ecu??
***Or simply is the presence alone of the key around the car enough to make the ecu work...
* i dont want to remove the immobilizer off the ecu either, when i do smog i need it working...

Im really don't know much when it comes to immobilizers but, If you bring it to Acura they can just re-program your mobilizer. They quoted me $55 for it and I think it was an additional $45 for a new key. The car would have to be present though.

is the 00 itr ecu original ecu that was working in your car?
has dash harness been messed with? still have orginal keys that worked with the org ECU?

I have everything original. Original type r turbo on Hondata. Original type r ecu, 3 keys ignition harness if needed, original ignition switch if needed. The entire Type R is in my garage.
Bottom line. I want to use my type r ecu with my new engine build. whats the process...

Firstly, this page briefly mentions how basic immobilisers work: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immobiliser
You should be able to test the system by plugging the Type R components in and placing a key inside the end ring of the ignition harness followed by attempting to start the car as normal. Next, if that works then you can tape a key to it and hide it away somewhere. Keep in mind that you've effectively bypassed the system when you do such a thing.
