Default ECU switch, is it harmful?

My friend made a switch on his ECU, and flipping it off will turn the ECU off, and flipping it on will turn the ECU back on (Duh). My question is, will flipping the ECU off and on like this on a normal basis harm the ECU or any compononent of the car at all? Thanks

... not really, it would be just like if you where pluging it in and out every day. Now dont go and 'flip' the thing off when your driveing cause you can short something out. But if he is useing the switch like a killswitch, and 'flips' it on before he starts the car then it should be okie.
