Default Custom E-Brake Cable/Pulley Setup

I'm building a Factory Five Cobra and I need to fab something up for the e-brake.

I purchased a Lokar E-Brake handle, but most if not all using it complain there isn't enough leverage/pull on the cables. I've decided to go with a cable/pulley setup.

There are two versions of this, here are some pics. Which should I go with which will give me maximum leverage? I'm leaning more towards "Ver. A" since it takes up the less space.

Also, I should make the pulley that the cable makes a 180 around smaller or larger in order to get the most leverage?

Ver. A

Ver. B

Version A gives you a bit more leverage no?

I personally don't see how either gives more or less "pull" then the other. You need to change the distance between the e brake handle pivot point and the point in which the steel braided cable mounts. The farther these two points are from one another, the more the cable will be pulled. Hope this helps

You are more or less going to get the same "leverage" from both. When you wrap the cable around the pulley like that you make it take half the effort to pull the cable, but you need to pull twice as far.

Different pulleys won't really make any kind of noticable difference. Put together what you feel is going to be the most reliable and try to give as much "throw" as possible on the ebrake itself.

Thanks for all the replies, but the pivot point can't be changed. At least not without redoing the whole handle since it is already chromed and welded together. Here's what it looks like:

How it is supposed to connect to the e-brake cables directly:

With version A. The smaller pulley could be omitted. Just attach the cable directly to rear brake cables. Two pulleys is not needed.

Unless you want it to be easier to pull.

They are needed in ver a because he needs to keep it under the trans tunnel aluminum plating.

It will be twice as hard to pull this way. But it should maintain the same cable path. Just omit the small pulley and don't attach it to the frame.

^ I think that's the problem they're having, without the pulley system like he has it routed guys are having a really hard time activating the ebrake. It's too heavy.

At least, that's what I gathered from the initial post.

I don't think the problem is that it's too hard to engage the e-brake.

The main problem is that the Lokar handle we use does not have enough travel, so guys are coming up with ways to create more leverage.

Instead of using a pulley/cable configuration, some have done this:

There is also this configuration, but it seems to be opposite of what I posted above with the red bracket. The red bracket seems to be "correct" in that the handle is at the fulcrum of the bracket. If it is directly in the middle, it will provide twice as much mechanical advantage, correct?

if you are running out of travel, a pulley wont help you, it will hurt you

imho, extend the "business end" of the ebrake handle and paint it. heh
