Hey everyone I've had my sol for a long time and fixed a lot of stuff but this one has stumped me. I have a 1997 si del sol. Well my driver window will go down about an inch by itself and then gets stuck and my regulator sounds like a machine gun but my window won't go down. I have to push it down and then it will work perfectly. Until I go to put it up and then I have to open my door and pull it up once it's 2 or 3 inches from the top. It's a real pain everyday I have to go on the military base. Any help is gratefully appreciated.

I've never had one of these regulators apart, but it sounds like a few busted teeth.

 

You have to remove the door panel and see if the window glass is off track. I'm sure you will see what's going oin once it's in plain view.

 

Last time I had similar problems the window had come out of the track and the extra stress bent the regulator so it wouldn't slide up and down uniformly.

Like NVturbo said, take the door apart and check. You'll have to get the window back in the track and aligned properly, then you'll probably have to rebend or replace your regulator.
