Icon2 y7 to y8 IM and TB question

I want to do this swap and I already found a diy online and the parts for sale, what I wanna know is if I need to buy a y8 TB or can I reuse the y7 TB. I know I can reuse the y7 fuel rail and injectors. Also will this pose any problem about the emissions so as to say my car would not pass the smog test, cuz I live in cali and all its restrictions about smog, I dont think it should cuz its OEM parts but I wanna make sure 1st before spending $. Thanks in advance HT guys and gals.

You can use the y7 tb but you'll need to use a y8 throttle rotor

if you get a y8 TB from an auto, just use it. It will have everything you need.

What about emissions? Any problems with that when doing the smog check next year?

Use throttle rotor off the y8 throttle body. Install it onto your y7 throttle body. This will allow you to run the y7 3 wire IACV instead of the y8 2 wire IACV.

You want to swap the rotors because the throttle cable is obviously routed different with the y8 side mount throttle body vs the y7 down draft throttle body.

Another tip; get a y8 throttle cable too. You can get the y7 one to work but its really long and you could run into binding issues with it.

With the y8 rotor onto the y7 TB, will it be plug and play or is there some other wiring involved? Cuz from what I've searched online, it says it DOES have some minor wiring with the swap with that set up

No wiring that I can think of, youre using the y7 iacv so it is plus and play. Plus you are using your stock tps and maf so it will plug right in. Maybe you were seeing how to put a y8 head on a y7 block? In that case you need to wire vtec in.
